Get It On Out, Get Down, and Ride !!!  11th Annual

Trail Time Trial
and Early Season Soup and
Hot Wine Social
(a.k.a. Barb's Birthday Time Trial)
Flat, Straight ... Fast (and Snowy/Icy???)
Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM ***

Come celebrate the start of the racing season, watch bike videos, eat homemade bread, hot soup, and (in the best European tradition) drink hot spiced wine and help Barb celebrate her birthday! THE GIFT OF YOUR COMPANY IS SUFFICIENT!

USE YOUR MOUNTAIN BIKE, YOUR CYCLOCROSS BIKE, OR YOUR GRASS TRACK BIKE WITH KNOBBY TIRES (you won’t need gears for this race)—or any bike with WINTER TIRES.
HELMETS REQUIRED, ear-muffs optional.

MEET/SIGN-UP: 2:00PM (earlier if you need to join CRCofA for 2012)– Barb and Rick McKee’s, 1167 Millstone River Rd, Hillsborough (between Millstone and Manville, Rt. 533)
Leave from there @ 2:30pm, warm up with 1.5 miles north to the D & R Canal Tow Path START on Weston Causeway (Wilhousky St).
RACE – 2+ miles southward along the tow path to the town of East Millstone (finish just before Amwell Rd, Rt. 514)
RETURN – to McKee’s via the road for a warm-down
CLUB POINTS-- in all categories (A, B, C, Women ) to winners; 1 point all participants

Tow path surface is mostly good; packed gravel/sand; some soft spots if wet. Wider, winter road tires are possible but not recommended unless dry weather precedes the race. Conditions are always a crap-shoot; warm and dry, deep snow, hard ice…This year…who knows. I will try to post a report on the CRCofA Yahoo Group Forum on Sat.

FAMILIES INVITED FOR A SOUP SUPPER: Showers available (bring a towel);  Hot tub is available (bring towel, swim suit). BRING VELO VIDEOS IF YOU HAVE THEM.

RSVP appreciated: 908-874-6524 or mckees11@comcast.net
Supper is rain, snow or shine; race subject to vote of majority in case of very inclement weather (well, I guess this no longer applies !)

***IMPORTANT!!!!! If you have not yet joined/paid your 2011 CRCofA dues, come no later than 1:30pm to register!

The Jersey Project

Adding the CRCofA "Raleigh Jersey" to the collection of famous race photographer and jersey collector Henk Theuns, was in many ways a defining moment for US Cycling and the era that truly launched the sport into what it is today.

This moment joins our recent cycling heritage with jerseys of the European greats.  Pictured from left to right are Rini Wagtmans, one of the original "HardMen", Hank Theuns and Bill Humphreys.

See the Club History for more details.
